Giving Thanks

There are so many thing to be thankful for this season...
I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband, partner and best friend who works so hard to support his family.
I am so thankful for my beautiful daughter, she is such a blessing in our lives.
I am thankful for the little sweet pea I am carrying and for a healthy pregnancy thus far.
I am thankful for the health and happiness of all my Family and Friends.

May your day be filled with thanks and may you be surrounded by love!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Good Old-fashion Cookie Making

Today my Mom and I got together for one of our yearly traditions...
Nani's Spice Cookies!

They are delicious and since there will be a lot of entertaining this weekend these are the perfect treat.
But more than that, these cookies hold a special place in my heart for a few reasons. We always use my Nani's recipe, which she typed on a 3x5 recipe card on a good old-fashioned typewriter.

And we always use her old fall cookie cutters.

My Mom and Nani made these cookies when she was a little girl and now I am making them with my Mom who my daughter now calls Nani :)

This Thanksgiving will be the first one without my Nani, but she is always close in my heart.
Love you Nani

Frugal Friday

Happy Frugal Friday!
So, I originally was going to post something different for this Frugal Friday, but I found this beauty this morning and just had to share!
And guess where I found her at (hint, this is where the frugal part comes in)?...
One of my FAVORITE places
The Goodwill!
OK, now brace yourselves...

That's right, it was $1.99! And do you see the other sticker? Yep, your right again it was originally from Pottery Barn for $29.00.

Now is that a steal or what!?!
Isn't she pretty? I'm not sure where I will put her, but for now she is in my room where I can look at her all night long.
Happy Frugal Friday!

Lamp re-do!

As you know two of my favorite words when decorating are cheap and easy and this project is both!
Isn't this lamp sooo sweet!?!
Now brace yourself here is the before...not bad, but not good either.

All you need is a working lamp, 3-4 yards of tulle, ribbon, and for mine I needed spray paint and my wonderful friend antiquing glaze.

Just strip the fabric off the shade so you are left with just the shade frame.

Now just begin wraping tulle strips around the frame and tie into a knot at the end.

I had to spray the lamp base and then decided to antique it too.

And Ta-Da!
Isn't she sweet?
Hope you are having a great day!
Oh and don't forget tomorrow is Frugal Friday...

Frugal Friday

This Friday's post is sooo Frugal it's FREE!!! That's right, you can make this SIMPLE project with stuff you have tucked around the house.

My daughter loves to do art project and brings home piles of them every time she goes to pre-school. She is also a social butterfly and dearly loves her "friends" pictures.

I was tired of seeing art work sitting on the kitchen counter and photos of her friends floating around the house sooo...

All I did was take a piece of ribbon I had stashed in my wrapping supplies and tacked it to the wall and then just used clothes pins to put up the photos.

For her art work I hung a wider ribbon on the wall and used a little heaver gaged clips to hold up the art.

It's such a simple idea, but so useful. She loves seeing her art displayed on the wall and it's very easy to rotate as new art comes in. I hung the photo banner at her height so she can easily see all her "friends" smiling faces.

Now how frugal and easy is that!

Happy Frugal Friday!

Where do you Dump your Junk?

Do you have a spot to drop your stuff? A place to put your keys, glasses, hats...this list could go on and on.

I got this great and fairly inexpensive (compared to "other places"), bench and shelf from The Company Store. It's called the Westfield Collection and can I just tell you how sturdy and well made these pieces are.

It's so nice that everything has a place and my Dear Husband is not asking me every minute if I know where his keys, wallet etc. are (love you dear).

And I especially like that there is a place to sit and take off your dirty shoes before coming into the house.

Where do you Dump your Junk?

Hope your having a great day!

Chalk Wall Fun

A few months back I decided to take a plain boring wall outside of my kitchen and turn it into a Chalk Wall.
It was VERY simple and cheap (two of my favorite words) to do and only took 2 hours or 1 nap to complete.

You can find chalkboard paint at any local craft or hardwear store. I used Valspar chalkboard paint in black, but these days it comes in many, many colors.

I found the frame at one of my favorite places, the Goodwill for $11.00. It was an ugly old gold frame with a mirror inside, but I knew the narrow oval shape would be perfect for this tight spot. I removed the mirror and sprayed it white. I then took some Antiquing Glaze and brushed it on and off so it would look a bit aged.

As you can see from the above photo, it's fun for all ages too! My Daughter loves to draw all over the wall and it's one wall I don't mind if she does.

Have you used chalkboard paint latley? I would love to see your projects. And stay tuned for another post on how to use chalkboard paint for the holidays.

Hope your having a great day!

Frugal Friday

I Love re-using things that I have lying around the house to make something new and fabulous on the cheap! And since everything outside is dreary and damp, why not bring a little life inside and cheer up your home.
I had these cute little terracotta pots that I bought at a local garden shop awhile ago for $10.00 total...aren't they sweet? And instead of buying new plants to go inside I decided to shop my yard and dug up two succulent starts that were originally given to me.

Happy Frugal Friday!

Diving in!

I have been following the blog world for close to a year now and have finally decided to make the leap too. My true passion is decorating on the cheap, but making it look like a million bucks. I have been inspired by so many of you and hope that I can do the same. Here we go...
